We have put together a couple of topics for you to easier find your way around on the guanshe-platform.

With guanshe we would like first of all encourage the professional exchange between women from different countries in regard to self-employment, setting up a company, career change, money investment and management and many more topics. With the exchange of experience and advice, guanshe users do not only receive the support from other women, guanshe also offers you the chance to build an international network of women power. Together we are strong!

What does the word "guanshe" mean?

"guanshe" is a wordplay taken from the Chinese word 關係 / 关系 (spoken: guan-xi) which means amongst others relations, connections and the English word "she": "guan" + "she" = guanshe smile

Do I have to pay for being a member on guanshe?

After registering at guanshe, you will have the “Standard” membership which is free-of-charge and allows you to carry out most activities on the site.

The next membership-level “Premium” allows you, in addition to the activities of “Standard”, to view other guanshe-members profiles, send messages to other guanshe-members as well as donate points and rewards.

You can purchase the Premium-membership or alternatively upgrade to it once you have gained the required amount of points.

Please note: In the Alpha version of guanshe, it will not be possible to purchase the Premium-membership. This feature will only be available from the Beta version on. 

Further below you will find more information about memberships as well as the points and reward features at guanshe.

In which languages is guanshe available? And can I see the same content in either language?

Initially, guanshe will be available in German, Chinese (simplified and traditional) and English. We are planning to add more languages in the future, though. 

You can see all posts from all users in the InfoXchange forum, no matter which language you choose for the site interface. As for articles, users post these in their chosen language and they will primarily be visible for users who have the site interface in the same language. We will try to translate the articles into other languages if possibl, in order to make them available to all guanshe-members, always with a reference to the original text as well as to the author.

How can I upload a profile pic? 

  1. Click on your profile pic on the right side at the top of the site (if there is no photo or picture yet, it will show the first letter of your user name)
  2. Click on your user name
  3. Click on your profile pic (if there is no photo or picture yet, it will show the first letter of your user name)
  4. Click below on "Select Files" and choose the photo or image you want to use
  5. Wait until it has been uploaded and then click on "Submit"
  6. Reload the site - your profile pic should now be changed !

Should you have various profile pics and would like to use again an older one, follow steps 1. to 3. and just drag and drop the photo / image you want to the first place - Reload the site and your profile pic should be changed ! 

How can I edit my cover / background photo / image? 

  1. Go to your profile (-> Click on your profile pic on the right side at the top of the site, then click on your user name)
  2. Click on the top right side on "Change Cover" / -> from mobile view there will be a photo icon on the top right side to click on
  3. Click on "Select Files" and choose the photo or image you want to use
  4. Wait until it has been uploaded and then click on "Submit"
  5. Reload the site - your cover pic should now be changed !

Should you have various cover photos and would like to use again an older one, follow steps 1) and 2) , then choose at the right side from the drop-down selection the option “Organise”and just drag and drop the photo / image you want to the first place - Reload the site and your cover pic should be changed !  

How can I edit my profile information? 

In order to change your profile information and profile settings, simply click on the wheel-icon at the top on the left side.

Below your profile information (from mobile view) or on the right side (from desktop view) you will find the option “Edit profile privacy” where you can choose who should be able to see your profile information.

How can I see which is my current Membership and what features it has?

  1. Go to your Account (-> click on your Profile pic, then choose “Account”)
  2. Choose "My Membership" from the drop-down selection
  3. By clicking on the Membership name, a window is opening that shows you which actions you are able to carry out with your current membership

On the same page (below or next to your current membership), there might be other levels that you can upgrade to. Click on the membership name or the "i"-button below to see the possible actions for this membership.

Alternatively, in your Account on the right side (Desktop view) or scroll further down (Mobile view) you can find the “Account Control” with your current membership as well as other useful information.

How can I upgrade my current Membership at guanshe?

After joining guanshe, your first Membership will be “Standard”. You may upgrade to “Premium” purchasing it or once you have reached the required amount of points.

For purchasing, go to your Account (Click on your Profile pic, then choose “Account”) and choose “My Membership” from the selection and you can see the Membership options that are available.

Please note: In the Alpha version of guanshe, it will not be possible to purchase the Premium-membership. This feature will only be available from the Beta version on.

How can I send a private message to another guanshe-member? 

There are 2 ways:

Click on the Mail icon on top and select “Compose”. 

In the Recipient field, type in the username of the user you want to send a message to. If the username exists, it will pop up automatically as you're typing in the username. This will help to ensure you type in the correct username.

OR

When you are viewing another member’s profile (-> from “Members” on the menu bar or by clicking on a user name elsewhere on guanshe), scroll down to the Action buttons and click on “Contact”. This will also open the message form. 

Why can't I send a message to another guanshe-member? 

The “Standard” Membership does not yet allow you to send messages to other members (neither greetings, view profiles, donate points or rewards). 

You will need to upgrade to “Premium” in order to have these features. You can upgrade when you have reached the stipulated amount of points or by directly purchasing the Premium-Membership.

Please note: In the Alpha version of guanshe, it will not be possible to purchase the Premium-membership. This feature will only be available from the Beta version on.

How can I connect with other guanshe-members?

At guanshe there are "Connections" and "Favourites". "Connections" are members you are directly connected with whereas "Favourites" are members whose activities you can thus follow.

  1. Click on “Members” on the Menu bar (you might need to uncheck “online only” to see all the members)
  2. Choose the member you wish to connect to (it will lead you to her profile)
  3. Scroll down to the Action buttons and find the buttons “Connect” or “Fave”

Clicking on “Connect” will send a contact request to the other member.

Clicking on “Fave” will merely add this member to your list of favourites (Account -> My Connections -> selection “Favourites” on the right side).

You can set your Notifier to receive notifications when your Connections and/or Favourites carry out actions on the site (e.g. publish a new article etc.) 

Anywhere on the site where you see the name of a member (e.g. someone who posted a reply in the InfoXchange or wrote an article), you can click on it, see her profile and connect from there. 

How can I remove a connection or favourite?

  1. Go to your Account (-> click on your Profile pic, then choose “Account”)
  2. Choose "My Connections" from the drop-down selection and select the member to delete from the list.

For Favourites just choose “Favourites” from the drop-down selection on the right side and select the member you wish to remove from the list

Alternatively, click on the member you are connected with (“Members” at the menu bar -> choose member), scroll down to the Action buttons on her profile and click on the buttons “Disconnect” or “Unfave. 

How can I search for members with same interests or members with expertise in a special field?

In your profile you can choose your interests as well as the fields in which you have profound experience in, so that you might help out other members with related questions. Choose the topics that apply to you from both lists in order to appear in the search results.

Should you need support in a certain area yourself, members who have ticked the topics in their profiles, will then accordingly appear in the search results.

The "Search" from the menu bar has the corresponding options to look for members with the same interests and members with expertise in a certain field.

How can I receive comments to InfoXchange posts, articles and more?

If you want to be informed about replies to an InfoXchange post, about comments of a specific article or else, you will always need to subscribe to it. Just click on the “Subscribe”-button, you will then receive notifications.

Important for the InfoXchange:

If you post a question in the InfoXchange, you will need to subcribe to it after posting it. Directly after submitting your post, just click on “Subscribe” at the top. 

Please note, in all cases, don’t forget that you need to have the notifier set to receive notifications ! (More info about the Notifier can be found further below)

What is the InfoXchange at guanshe?

The InfoXchange is a forum where you can ask other guanshe-members for their advice, help or opinion. There are several given categories where you can choose your topic from and ask a question. The categories and topics are in German, Chinese and English.

By answering a question in the InfoXchange not only can we help and benefit from each other but you might even get points for it.

How can I post a question at the InfoXchange?

Click on the “+”sign on top and select “InfoXchange”. A few seconds later the form for selecting the Forum-category and writing your post will open.

Alternatively, if you are already in the InfoXchange from the Menu bar, you can click there on the “+”sign on the right side next to the menu selection.

Please don’t forget to subscribe to your post once you have submitted it! Only that way you will receive notifications about answers from other members. 

In which language should I post my question in the InfoXchange?  

Do I only see InfoXchange posts in the language of the site interface? 

No matter which language you choose for the site interface, you will always see all InfoXchange entries from all users in the language they posted them.

You can choose yourself in which language you want to write a post. 

If you like, you can even write one InfoXchange post in different languages (it should be within the same post, though). It is not so much about having a correct grammar but reaching a lot of guanshe-members. 

What should I do if a member is posting offensive content or is harassing me?

Naturally we hope that all guanshe-members will treat each-other with respect. However, should it come to some kind of harassment, you can click on “Report” in the corresponding InfoXchange post and we are being informed directly about it.

If needed, you can also click on the other member’s profile, scroll to the Action buttons and click on “Block”. The other user will then not be able any more to contact you.

What is Articles at guanshe?

We post regularly articles on guanshe about topics regarding entrepreneurship, money investment and many others.

We invite and encourage our members to contribute with articles of your own in order to share experience and knowledge with the guanshe-community. Please get in touch with us via e-mail at articles(@)guanshe.me 

What is Points at guanshe?

Points is a feature that makes all activities at guanshe even more fun ! For example, by answering a question in the InfoXchange not only can you help another guanshe-member but you might even get points for it ! There are several activities for which you can gain points, you can find a list of all here.

There are points-level at guanshe. After joining guanshe, you will start as a guanshe-Newbie but gaining more and more points through activities, you can climb up the point-levels up to guanshe-Grande Dame which is the ultimative level!

As for the guanshe-membership, once you have gained enough points, you may upgrade your membership from Standard to Premium which allows you to contact other guanshe-members and more.

What is Rewards at guanshe?

Once you have gained enough points, you might get yourself a nice reward. This can be a voucher, a discount or a special offer exclusively for guanshe-members, depending what we currently have available on guanshe.

Can I give points or a reward to another guanshe-member as a gift?  

Yes, if you wish, you can donate points or a reward to another member.

If you are already connected with the member to whom you would like to donate points or a reward, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to your Account (-> click on your Profile pic, then choose “Account”)
  2. Choose “My Connections” from the Menu Selection
  3. Choose the member from “My Connections” or from “Favourites” (“Favourites” can be chosen from the selection on the right side), depending on how you are connected
  4. Click on the member you wish to donate points or a reward
  5. Scroll down to the Action buttons and click on “Donate Reward” or “Donate Points” 

If you are not yet connected with the other member, choose her from the Members selection:

  1. Click on “Members” at the Menu bar
  2. Click on the guanshe-Member you wish to donate points or a reward (you might need to uncheck “online only” to see all the members)
  3. Scroll down to the Action buttons and click on “Donate Reward” or “Donate Points”

What is Events at guanshe? 

guanshe offers a platform where guanshe-members as well as our partners can publish their events. These can be events such as for example networking events, meetings to discuss and exchange about a specific topic and others. Should you organise an event yourself and would like to publish it on guanshe, please get in touch with us at events(@)guanshe.me

Where can I see the Events that I joined?

  1. Go to your profile (-> Click on your profile pic on the right side at the top of the site, then click on your user name)
  2. Scroll down until you will find the list with “Joined Events”

Alternatively, 

  1. Go to your Account (Click on your profile pic, then choose "Account")
  2. Scroll down until you will find the list with “Joined Events” 

What is G.News at guanshe?

"G.News" stands for guanshe-News. With G.News we will inform you about new features, current changes on guanshe, and more. 

What is Polls at guanshe?

We will regularly post polls on guanshe to a variety of topics and ask the opinion of the guanshe community.  

Should you be interested in the guanshe-members’ opinion in a specific matter, you may contact us with your question and we might publish it in form of a poll on guanshe, subject to approval. 

What is Notifier at guanshe?

"Notifier" is a tool that allows you to receive notifications about actions carried out by your connections or Favourites on guanshe. In the settings, you can choose if you want to receive notifications at all, from whom and how often.  

How does the Notifier work?

Click on  “Notifier” from the Menu bar. 

  • “Connection/Favourite Notifications”  allows you to choose from whom you want to receive notifications regarding Articles, Events and Profile
  • Click on the Menu item “My Notifications” to choose for which actions you would like to receive notifications

At “Settings” on the right side (from mobile view just scroll a bit down) you can choose if you want to receive notifications at all and with what frequency. 

Please note: If you would like to receive notifications, the option “Receive Site Notifications” in your Profile Settings has to be checked. (If unchecked, you won’t receive any notifications, no matter it is set in the Notifier) 

What is Referrals at guanshe?

Referral means you invite others to join guanshe and thus refer her to our site. 

Referrals is part of the Points feature which means, the more friends you refer to guanshe, the more points you will get!  

On the homepage feed, we feature guanshe-members with the highest amount of referrals in a top ten list. 

How can I invite friends to join guanshe?

To invite your friends to join guanshe, just click on the button “Invite your friends and earn rewards” (found on the homepage) or on the link “Invite a friend to guanshe” in the bottom menu and fill in the form.

Alternatively, go to your Account (-> click on your Profile pic, then choose “Account”) . Scroll down until you find “My Referral link for friends”. Copy the link from the box and paste it where possible to invite more women to join guanshe.  

How can I use banners on my website to invite other women to join guanshe? 

  1. Click on “Referrals” at the Menu bar
  2. Choose “Promotional Banners” from the drop-down selection
  3. Choose the Banner you like and just cut the code and paste it where possible 

At “My Referral link for friends” on your Account there is also a direct link to the Banners 

How can I delete my account at guanshe?

Of course we would be very sad to see you leave but should you really wish to delete your account, please proceed as follows:

  1. Go to your Account (Click on your profile pic, then choose "Account")
  2. Choose "Unregister" from the drop-down selection menu
  3. Click on the button "Delete Account"

Please note that with this action all your content will be irrevocably deleted.
